Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
What was the project about?
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime created with the collaboration of CD PROJEKT RED and Studio Trigger set in Night City, where the main character, David Martinez, tries to survive in a futuristic city obsessed with technology and body modification.
The main aim of the Community team’s strategy was to build awareness around the anime in the Cyberpunk 2077 community and reach new audiences. We wanted people to be aware of the fact that Edgerunners is a self-contained story in the Cyberpunk universe that everyone knows and loves. In addition to that, our goal was also to showcase the newest 1.6 update (called “Edgerunners update”) which contained various gameplay fixes, improvements and content inspired by the anime. It’s worth noting that the project was a huge success and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners received numerous awards such as the IGN Awards 2022 for Best Anime Series or Crunchyroll Anime Awards for Anime of the Year. We’re especially proud of the fact that we not only managed to show this amazing world to new audiences, but we also persuaded existing fans to come back to Night City.
Copywriting for social media
One of my responsibilities was brainstorming community interactions and writing copy for our social media posts regarding Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners both on anime and Cyberpunk 2077 related channels.
TikTok content creation
We realized that a large portion of our target audience (anime fans) use TikTok, so we focused our efforts on trying to reach as many people as possible on that platform. I was personally responsible for researching current trends and brainstorming ideas on how can we use them. I even starred in one of our TikToks!
